If you are using aluminum valve covers your torque isn't gonna matter as much.if originals then make sure the cover is flat where the bolts go.the factory used those triangle load spacers and people tended to crank on the bolts to stop leaks and thus dent the cover.so. The valve cover bolts are tiny 6mm ones that only need to be snugged up.

#6 · mar 13, 2012. The trick though is to go to 3 ft lbs on each bolt, slowly. Those are shoulder bolts so tightening more does not squish the gasket more.
